WSA holds winners exhibition

Abu Dhabi, December 11, 2010

World Summit Awards (WSA), a global activity to select and promote the world's best e-Content and most innovative ICT applications, recently held a winners exhibition on the last day of the event in Abu Dhabi.

“I am very impressed by Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (Adsic) and the WSA awards for hosting such an exhibition,” said Dr. Mohammed Salem Al Mazroui, secretary general of the Federal National Council (FNC).

“Gathering innovators in digital technology from around the world in Abu Dhabi highlights the vital role of the Emirate in the ICT sector. I have little doubt that the discussions on advancing science and research that occurred here over the past few days will have a positive impact on the global community.”

“Mobile technology has gone beyond simply aiding communications and now plays a central role both as our personal offices and in allowing governments to interact positively with their citizenry,” he added.

Rashid Lahej Al Mansoori, director general of Adsic, said: “We are honoured by the visit of the FNC and the secretary general and relish the opportunity to share the latest advancements in m-content. With the UAE contributing to this year’s winning applications, we see excellent examples of how technological advancements in the government, private and media sectors can positively impact people’s lives.”

“I would like to thank everybody for their participation in making The WSA Gala, Conference and Exposition successful. I applaud the sessions and discussions during the two days of the WSA that enriched our knowledge and allowed us to reflect on the importance of using modern ICT and m-content development as a fundamental tool of economic development.”

The events during the final day of the WSA awards included morning plenary sessions on knowledge transfer within the ICT industry and network engineering and optimization, as well as workshops and opportunities to examine new areas of possible ICT advancement with the WSA winners.

“It was Abu Dhabi’s highly developed digital infrastructure, among other things, that enabled it to achieve a great success in hosting this event. The Emirates have taken a great step towards positioning themselves at the top of their league in encouraging m-content development in the Arab region,” said Nawaf Abdul Rahman, head of IT and the General Youth Association, Bahrain. – TradeArabia News Service
