Trend Micro sees Android security success

Dubai, April 18, 2011

Trend Micro said its mobile security for Android which was launched at 'Showstoppers' during CES expo in January has been successful in protecting customers from a targeted surge of web threats and cybercriminals.

A long-time innovator in mobile security, Trend Micro said its Android security solution scans downloaded apps for malware and is conceived to provide a safe surfing experience for online banking and shopping on Android devices.

The security application is designed to identify and stop cybercriminals and online threats before they can attack, the company said in a statement.

Requiring little space and specifically built for Android devices, Trend Micro Mobile Security provides the protection and freedom consumers need to stay mobile, said a senior official.

"Currently, it is the only company known to use cloud-based security intelligence to protect Android devices from the latest threats," noted Rik Ferguson, director of Security Research & Communications, Trend Micro.

"Custom filtering lists enable users to screen or block unwanted calls or messages, while Web reputation and parental controls help make mobile surfing safer for everyone," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
