Batelco, Telekom Malaysia in VPN deal

Manama, October 31, 2011

Batelco will launch the multi-protocol label switching internet protocol virtual private network (MPLS IP VPN) interconnectivity with Telekom Malaysia (TM), which aims to further enable both parties to extend corporate VPN solutions between their respective regions.

This agreement, benefitting both organisations, will provide state-of-the-art, end-to-end MPLS VPN services to businesses that wish to establish secured inter-office connectivity between locations.

It was signed by Adel Daylami, enterprise division general manager, Batelco, and Mohamad Rozaimy Abdul Rahman, executive vice president, Telekom Malaysia, on behalf of their respective companies.

Daylami said that this strategic bi-lateral understanding is an important addition to Batelco’s portfolio.

“It will enable us to extend the Global IP VPN solution to international customers through our partner’s reliable, state-of-the-art network as well as provide carrier partners with a one-stop-shop solution for transit services into Bahrain,” he said. “Accordingly, the benefit of Batelco and TM’s shared network can be extended to our international customers.”

“The agreement complements Batelco’s range of global connectivity services such as Global IP VPN, IPLC, global satellite services and a global data centre that not only enhances efficiency by offering seamless, secured and dedicated interconnectivity but also the reliable support of a professional team working 24x7 in one of the regions’ most sophisticated NOCs (Network Operation Centres),” added Daylami.

Abdul Rahman, who is in support of the newly-signed business partnership, said: “TM foresees this partnership will further drive the growth of the enterprise segment in the Gulf area particularly to those who demand fully-meshed, flexible, scalable and future-proof global networking solutions, in providing seamless data connectivity to suit the diverse requirements of their customers. This would definitely strengthen TM’s presence and collaborations with telcos in the Middle East regions. “

“Operational-wise, we strive to maximise potential synergies, by leveraging each other’s resources and presence all over the globe while meeting customer expectation, if not beyond their satisfaction. As we embrace the vision in becoming Malaysia’s leading new generation communication provider, we are confident through this initiative that this partnership will provide innovative platforms in bringing global technology closer to the customers,” added Abdul Rahman.

The partnership is in line with Batelco’s global relations strategy, which focuses on extending its interconnection with global carriers through MPLS networks in order to expand the company’s IP data services reach to all major countries and provide seamless MPLS VPN services, a statement from the company said.

This NNI delivers great value to Batelco’s customers. Among the key benefits for Batelco’s partners are seamless IP data services between Bahrain and Malaysia, greater reach in the respective markets for data service connectivity, competitive pricing and a one-stop-shop offering for the advantage of all parties, in which Batelco is the GCC partner of choice for services into the Gulf region, the statement said.

In addition, Bahrain-based enterprise clients will benefit from the extension of carrier grade VPN to their base office, a multi-purpose service offering to cater to different office applications, and competitive pricing, as well as a one-stop-shop offering. – TradeArabia News Service
