Batelco launches Galaxy Nexus

Bahrain-based leading telecommunications company, Batelco, has announced the availability of the Galaxy Nexus in the Kingdom.

The Nexus is the world’s first smartphone running on Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest release of Android, a statement from Batelco said.

Its features include a 4.65” HD Super AMOLED display technology at 720p resolution, a 1.2GHz dual core processor, Android Beam (for data exchange), face unlock, and NFC technology.

“The launch of Galaxy Nexus is in line with Batelco’s ongoing commitment to deliver to its customers the latest mobile technologies once they are available in the global market to ensure they are among the most connected individuals in the world,” said Ahmed Al Janahi, Batelco general manager, media relations.

“The ultra-fast 1.2GHz dual core processor provides superior power and speed, ensuring users can take full advantage of GALAXY Nexus’ enhanced multitasking capabilities with ease, or enjoy the large, vivid display to its full capacity with high-definition gaming or video streaming,” he said.

LTE or HSPA+ connectivity, combined with a dual core processor, delivers high-speed web browsing which ensures constant availability of internet to users.

NFC technology allows users to quickly share web pages, apps, and YouTube videos with their friends by tapping their phones together. “They can even use fun effects while shooting video or video chatting with Google Talk,” Al Janahi said.

Galaxy Nexus features a redesigned camera that introduces panorama mode, 1080p video capture, zero-shutter lag, and effects like silly faces and background replacement, the statement said.

It is also connected to the cloud, and keep emails, contacts, and all other data synced across the devices, it said.

Enhancements added by Ice Cream Sandwich to Android includes a redesigned user interface with improved multi-tasking, notifications, Wi-Fi hotspot, NFC support and a full web browsing experience.

Additionally, the Nexus features software navigation buttons, a first for Android smartphones.

“Ice Cream Sandwich also features a new People app, which lets you, browse friends, family, and coworkers, see their photos in high-resolution, and check their latest status updates from Google+ and other social networks,” Al Janahi said.

Customers can get the new Galaxy Nexus through Batelco’s super smart package, the statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
