Adobe holds special training workshop

Dubai, November 29, 2012

Adobe Systems Incorporated Mena recently held a special product training workshop for the Ministry of Social Affairs, Dubai Police, Police Science Academy – Sharjah and Emirates Publishers Association to provide an overview of its widely used software.

The event was held in cooperation with Emirates Intellectual Property Association (Eipa), with the aim is to enable all parties to step up efforts to protect intellectual property rights in the UAE.

The one day workshop, conducted by Joe Karkour, the business development manager of Adobe Mena, was attended by Major General Dr Abdul Quddus Abdul Razak Obaidli, director of the general administration of total quality performance at Dubai Police and president of Eipa; Abdallah Saqqa, the general manager of Adobe Systems Mena; and Jawad Al Redha, business software alliance chair of the Gulf Region.

Divided into three sessions, the first covered Adobe’s popular graphics editing programme Photoshop CS6 and its photography software programme Lightroom, a statement from the company said.

The second session focused on Acrobat XI, software extensively used for PDF conversion and editing, while the third covered Digital Publishing and Adobe’s software used in this domain.

“This workshop proved highly informative since we now have a better understanding of the upgrades and changes that have been made to Adobe’s range of software. That knowledge is of vital significance as we look to stay abreast of the latest developments in the software industry so that we can effectively tackle new threats from software pirates,” Dr Obaidli said.

“In today’s ever-changing technology landscape it is imperative that law enforcement authorities and associations concerned with the protection of intellectual property are armed with adequate knowledge that will enable them to make informed decisions,” Saqqa said.

“Adobe is equally committed to reduce software piracy in the UAE and maximise the use of genuine software, which is why we have been extending our support to several anti-piracy campaigns being conducted in the country by the government and associations such as EIPA.” – TradeArabia News Service
