Batelco launches key services in Oman

Manama, December 8, 2012

Bahrain’s leading integrated communications company Batelco said it has partnered with Omantel, the country's leading service provider of communication solutions, to launch its new MPLS IP VPN interconnectivity services in the Sultanate.

Batelco said the launch of services is the fruition of an ongoing collaboration with Omantel and also demonstrates the company's position as a provider of cutting-edge services in the region.

Both leading organisations enhanced their long term collaboration through the signing of a partnership agreement on the sidelines of ITW (International Telecoms Week) which was held in Chicago, US, earlier this year.

The partnership agreement, which allows bi-lateral data IP services to be sold between Bahrain and Oman, also facilitates one-stop-shop transit services to their carrier partners, enabling both parties to extend corporate VPN solutions between their respective markets.

Announcing the launch, Batelco (Enterprise Division) general manager Adel Daylami said that the collaboration with Omantel was an important part of its OSS (One  Stop Shop) portfolio.

"Batelco is very pleased to be able to provide state-of-the-art, end-to-end MPLS VPN services to Bahrain and Oman-based businesses that wish to establish secure inter-office connectivity between both locations," he noted.

Daylami said Batelco was now in a position to extend rest of the world’s connectivity for its international customers and partners to all GCC, regional countries through its Global IP VPN reliable, state of the art network.

Batelco’s range of global connectivity services includes Global IP-VPN, Global Ethernet,  IPLC, Global Satellite services and a Global Datacenter, that not only enhances efficiency by offering seamless, secure and dedicated interconnectivity, but also delivers the reliable support of a professional team working 24x7 in Batelco’s sophisticated Network Operation Centres.

"Through this agreement, Batelco and Omantel look forward to further strengthening our offerings to carrier and corporate customers in all GCC and Middle Eastern countries as well as locations around the globe," he stated.

Johannes Boersma, the senior manager (Capacity & Submarine Cables) at Omantel said with the completion of the key project, its customers will have direct connectivity with their offices in Bahrain as well in other countries covered by Batelco's extensive reach.

"This is yet another step to enhance the international managed services offerings that we provide to Oman businesses," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
