Huawei unveils LTE small cell router

Dubai, April 15, 2013

Huawei has unveiled the industry's first LTE small cell router, the Huawei ATN 905, which will help small base stations obtain high-rate media access across a variety of scenarios, in turn allowing operators to extend their backhaul network coverage.

Over the past two to three years, many of the service providers in the GCC have moved to the implementation phase after trailing small cell technology on their home systems. While many of these technologies were previously suited to 2G/3G networks, service providers’ simultaneous evolution to LTE will create further demand for solutions like the Huawei ATND 905, a statement from the company said.

The ATN 905 helps meet the challenges of deploying large base station routers into small base stations as a result of site and installation requirements. The new router supports any media access, including Fiber, GPON and xDSL, to offer additional resources for the existing network.

The ATN 905 also supplies power through Ethernet ports to overcome the many issues associated with powering small base stations, and also enabling plug-and-play and remote service deployment to ease operations, the statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
