ANB sets up HP mission critical systems

Riyadh, April 25, 2013

Riyadh-based Arab National Bank (ANB) has installed the newest generation of HP Integrity Superdome 2 systems, which, when coupled with HP Mission Critical Partnership, ensure 24x7 service to the bank’s customers.

“To achieve our aim of attracting more customers in the next three to five years, ANB needs to have the most up-to-date technology and offer the best solutions on the market,” said Asad Alsada, head of Consumer Banking at ANB, one of the largest banks in the Middle East.

“Replacing our inflexible disparate IT systems with an agile, unified HP infrastructure enables us to meet our customers’ needs while reducing costs. Significant power savings and the ability to phase out old technologies mean we will achieve a return on investment in less than two years.”

Based on Intel Itanium 9500 processors, ANB’s new HP Superdome2 servers deliver a 300 percent performance boost over existing technology.

The open standards-based HP infrastructure is more flexible and easier to manage than the previous solution, and migration was completed without downtime. In addition to saving power and space in the data center, the HP infrastructure minimises thermal hot spots. HP Intelligent Power Discovery identifies servers at risk of electrical and thermal overloads, facilitating remedial action to maintain services.

HP Mission Critical Partnership enables ANB’s production and disaster recovery systems to remain up and running 365x24x7. HP Proactive 24 Services with remote support contribute to ANB’s high levels of uptime by monitoring the infrastructure and detecting potential problems before they can cause outages.

“In this era of 24 x 7 applications and mission-critical operations, businesses like ANB need a powerful, flexible infrastructure that is easy to use,” says Ziad Mortaja, managing director, HP Saudi Arabia.

“HP has been a consistent technology partner to ANB for the past 20 years, providing innovative and unified technologies. ANB was the first customer in EMEA to order HP Superdome2 servers based on the latest Intel Itanium 9500 processor.” – TradeArabia News Service
