Mobily supports services with fibre optic network

Riyadh, October 13, 2013

Mobily’s implementation of fibre optic network in its mobile and fixed towers including the Jamarat bridge tower will enhance the communication and data traffic in Makkah, said a senior official.

Mobily has completed the coverage of Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah with wifi, which will enable pilgrims and the media to get their work done from any place, said network engineer Nasser Al Nasser.

The network control centre in the western region is monitoring the performance of the network in the holy sites throughout 24 hours, in addition to several field teams for rapid intervention to resolve any emergency, he said.

Mobily relies on seven main exchange centres in Makkah and the holy sites, including two international centres with large capacities to handle in international calls to countries all over the world by pilgrims, said Al Nasser.

The geographical nature of the holy sites is no longer an obstacle to high quality telecommunications and data for pilgrims, he said. The advanced technical solutions which the infrastructure of the company depends upon, are being developed every year. - TradeArabia News Service
