British Telecom picks Bahrain for regional HQ

British Telecom, a leading telecommunications firm in the UK, has received the green light from Bahrain to establish its regional headquarters in the kingdom.

The approval was granted at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, yesterday (November 17), reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

The company's regional headquarters will cover the Mena region.

The British firm will provide new services that are not being offered by Bahrain's three telecommunication operators.

"British Telecom will offer a completely new technology related to sound services through the Internet," said a statement.

"We welcome the British telecom giants to Bahrain as it showcases the country's stand as an investment centre in the communications industry. – TradeArabia News Service
