Bahrain 'a key player in Nokia Mideast growth'

Nokia asserted Bahrain's growing importance as part of its renewed strategy for regional growth with the launch of six new devices in the Middle East.

The mobile telecom giant joined Intercol, its star distributor in Bahrain to celebrate two decades of their relationship and business growth in the kingdom at a major event held in the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence and Spa.

Speaking to the media, the duo revealed their exciting product roadmap for Bahrain highlighting Nokia’s ongoing commitment to the Kingdom’s market.

Senior Nokia representatives outlined the company's regional strategy to drive smart device leadership by showcasing six new products - the affordable smartphone devices Nokia Asha 500, 502 and 503; the large screen Lumia 1520 and 1320 and its first-ever Windows tablet, the Nokia Lumia 2520.
 
The Bahrain launch event also included the launch of the first 3G device in the Asha Platform family of smartphones, which deliver industry leading design, new vibrant colors and a more intuitive user interface, all at an accessible price, said a senior official.

The Nokia Asha 500, Asha 502 and Asha 503 will be available in bright red, bright green, yellow, cyan, white and black, for BD28, BD36 and BD38 ($74, $95 and $100) respectively.

Vithesh Reddy, the general manager for Nokia Lower Gulf said, "Now more than ever, mobile devices are at the center of consumers’ lives. Especially in markets such as Bahrain, consumers are looking to capture, curate and share experiences on the go."

"Today we are inviting people in Bahrain to switch to Nokia. With our latest range of Lumia and Asha products, we are delivering industry leading design and imaging innovation to bigger devices at more accessible prices," he added.

Andrew Hanna, the VIVA CCO said the company enjoyed a solid partnership with Nokia which had enabled it to bring first to the customers Nokia’s latest technological innovations.

"We are pleased to partner with Nokia and launch exclusively the flagship Nokia Lumia 1520 for our customers," stated Hanna.

Dinesh Ramankutty, the general manager from Intercol, said: "Building on Nokia’s industry-leading innovation in imaging, the latest range of Lumia and Asha products enables people to capture and share the world around them like never before. Nokia has spear-headed delivering high quality, stylish devices that enables Bahrain’s evolving consumer-tech community to make the switch to Nokia."
