IT will help Saudi to be 'most competitive economy'

Riyadh, March 24, 2014

The ongoing transformation in the IT sector will help Saudi Arabia become the most competitive economy in the Middle East region by 2020, said an expert.

System integrators like Omnix International are helping government entities and private sector companies implement IT solutions and services across Saudi Arabia and help the country achieve this milestone, remarked Tareq Musbah Hussein, the director for professional services, Omnix.

For well over a decade, Omnix has been heavily involved in Saudi Arabia’s IT transformation with a proven track record of delivering hitech solutions for high profile clients across the private and public sectors and executing prestigious projects on time and within budget.

Recognizing this track record of Omnix in the kingdom and across the region, Al-Rashed Group a business conglomerate based in Saudi Arabia, has recently acquired a minority stake in Omnix.

The Kingdom’s IT market, the largest in the GCC, is slated to grow from $3.8 billion in 2011 to $5.4 billion in 2017, with the software and services market growing from $1.8 billion in 2011 to $2.8 billion in 2017, according to Business Monitor International.

“For the Kingdom, IT innovation can be truly transformational and provide the very basis for a more sustainable, connected and empowered future. Omnix international has been helping government entities and private sector companies effectively implement IT solutions and services in the Kingdom, which are indispensable to Saudi Arabia’s business future,” remarked Tareq Musbah Hussein, the director for professional services, Omnix International.

For Omnix, the key successes in Saudi include 18 of the Kingdom’s government Ministries, the Holy Makkah Municipality, Kingdom Holding, and Mobily to name a few.

Furthermore, Omnix is ideally positioned to help projects like the new integrated Economic cities, adopt a variety of IT solutions & services, including E-services, which will be essential to the success of this mega project, stated Hussein.

Holy Makkah Municipality, another Omnix success story in the kingdom has benefited from Omnix’s implementation of an award-winning online resource that enables the municipality to run more than 30 business applications on its e-government site.
These include among others, issuing construction permits, land ownership services such as title deeds, urban planning, and issuing professional and health certifications, he added.

On exploring successful collaboration between government agencies and private organizations, Dr Ibrahim Abdullah, the vice mayor for IT, Holy Makkah Municipality, said: "We faced a challenge with updating legacy systems to automated processes, ensuring digital collaboration, and enhancing the quality of our services – especially as the city grows and more residents come online."

"One year after launching our partnership with Omnix International and Oracle, we have seen strong success on our e-government services enabling hundreds of thousands of residents and businesses to easily access our government services online, and making our government employees more productive. We will continue to boost e-services in the coming months, further enhancing quality of life across the Holy Makkah Municipality," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
