VIVA Bahrain joins datamena ecosystem

VIVA, a leading telecom operator in Bahrain, has inked a partnership agreement with Datamena, the carrier neutral data centre and connectivity platform based in the UAE and servicing the MEA region

With this move, VIVA has become the newest entrant into datamena's ecosystem.

A fully-owned subsidiary of the Saudi Telecommunications Company (STC), VIVA in 2010 launched its commercial and wholesale services in Bahrain with the aim of transforming the kingdom's telecommunications landscape.

As per the agreemen\ VIVA Bahrain, will extend its presence into datamena in Dubai, opening up interconnectivity benefits with the global and regional carriers that datamena hosts.

Enterprises and carriers currently within the datamena ecosystem will benefit from enhanced and amplified connectivity toward Bahrain and the region through VIVA’s backbone network.

The Bahraini telecom firm plans to peer on the UAE exchange, benefiting from low latency peering with global and regional content.

Welcoming Viva into the datamena ecosystem, Mahesh Jaishankar, VP (datamena) said: “Our customers will benefit from VIVA Bahrain’s presence, which will open up and enhance the connectivity with Bahrain and the region, bringing even more benefits into the rich environment that datamena offers.”

Saad Odeh, chief of wholesale and enterprise officer for VIVA said: “Partnering with datamena is an important part of our strategy positioning VIVA Bahrain as a leading regional carrier and ICT player. Placing the new node in Dubai will further expand our footprint and allow us to enhance our international services portfolio to better serve our local and international customers,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
