Bahrain rules out 4th mobile licence

Manama, July 12, 2014

Bahrain has no plans to issue a fourth mobile network operator licence, said a senior government official, adding that the project will have no economic feasibility.

“Most countries have two to three operators at the most,” Minister of State for Telecommunications Affairs Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa was quoted as saying in the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

He stressed the government’s plan to boost the telecom sector’s contribution to gross domestic product. He revealed that GCC ministers will discuss a unified telecom pricing in their upcoming meeting. – TradeArabia News Service
