Tokyo, August 28, 2014

KDDI, a global telecommunications provider, has announced that it will invest $270 million (28 billion Yen) in building two new telehouse data centres: “Telehouse Osaka 2” and “Telehouse Tokyo Tama 3”.

The telehouse centres are scheduled to open in August 2015 and February 2016 respectively.

Both facilities will offer high-density colocation services enabling the hosting of heavy load IT infrastructure. The data centres will meet the growing demand for housing private enterprise clouds along with public cloud service providers, online and media content companies.

The facilities are designed to tier 3+ data centre standards in redundancy and uptime. It will be insusceptible to earthquakes by way of a long-period absorption structure.

In addition, KDDI can provide a combined solution by providing direct access to the KDDI global network along with the data centre.

These additional facilities will take the total amount of global telehouse data centre space to 371,000 sq m, provided by 46 sites across 13 countries/territories and 24 major cities.

This expansion reflects the growing demand for data centre space in Japan’s metros and the ability of KDDI to accommodate leading multinationals expanding their portfolio in Japan. – TradeArabia News Service
