Umm Al Quwain mulls salary hike

Umm Al Quwain, April 13, 2008

UAE's Umm Al Quwain emirate is considering a 100 per cent pay rise for expatriate employees in local departments, a report said.

Shaikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, presided over a meeting in which directors of all local departments in the emirate discussed a draft law for amendment of salaries of non-UAE nationals, said the Khaleej Times report.

The law, when approved, will be applicable to all expatriate employees working for local departments in the emirate, regardless of nationality, it said.

The basic salary, annual increment, minimum time limit to stay in a particular pay scale and the conditions set for occupying a job have been rated and classified according to the pay scale of each employee, it said.
