Saudi, India sign extradition treaty

Saudi Arabia and India signed an extradition treaty aiming to fight terrorism and money laundering as well as raise their cooperation in several areas including security, economy and defence.

Saudi King Abdullah and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh signed the Riyadh Declaration defining the beginning of a strategic partnership between the two countries, said a report in the Indian daily The Times of India.

The two nations also stressed fortifying energy partnership in line with the Delhi Declaration of 2006, crude oil supplies to India and investing new and renewable energy.

The Indian Prime Minister also invited Saudi Arabia to participate in crude storage facilities in the country.

In another agreement, also signed during the day, Tata Motors, a leading automobiles manufacturer in India, will supply school buses worth $80 million.

Other agreements signed included transfer of sentenced persons, cultural cooperation, and collaboration between Indian Space Research Organisation and King Abdulaziz City for peaceful use of outer space and information technology.
