National unity crucial says Bahrain PM

Manama, February 13, 2011

Preservation of the homeland and its gains is a joint responsibility, Bahrain's Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has said.

National unity is the optimal way to overcome difficulties and the base underlying efforts to secure a decent and safe life for all citizens, he said in a statement on the occasion of the 10th anniversary yesterday of voting on the National Action Charter.

Bahrain will strive to meet aspirations of both the present and future, amidst great expectations, he said.

The Charter is the most significant fruit of His Majesty King Hamad's aspiration for Bahrain, the Prime Minister stressed.

"We still have other steps and more missions to accomplish in the future in order to fulfil aspirations of the homeland and citizens for a decent life."

The anniversary is an opportunity to assess the achievements made over a decade, to identify where we stand now and to truly and objectively analyse and improve on the nation's success, he said.

HRH the Premier stressed that the charter is a starting point for an integrated national effort in enhancing freedoms and respect for human rights. It is also a starting point to renew allegiance, and for a new stage of action to build an outstanding partnership between all executive and legislative authorities, supported by civil societies, he said. -TradeArabia News Service
