Let's heal the rifts, urges Bahrain Premier

Manama, March 29, 2011

Bahrainis were yesterday urged by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to join efforts to heal rifts and achieve national reconciliation.

"The aftermath of regrettable incidents require us all to join hands and mend fissures," the Prime Minister said.

Addressing a group of writers and journalists, he stressed the importance of security and stability during this critical phase of Bahrain's history.

"Democracy is protected. The constitutional institutions are functioning, ensuring Bahrain's fledgling democracy will continue. However, security and stability are top priorities now," he said.

He stressed that Bahrain would withstand all challenges, as long as its people manifest a spirit of patriotism. He expressed his trust that Bahrain would emerge stronger and firmer, thanks to the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad, the government's resolve and strong-willed people.

He called upon all social parties and institutions to engage themselves in building the nation and helping it regain its development momentum.

He expressed optimism about Bahrain's bright future despite passing adversities and described the closely-knit social fabric as a strong asset.

"The people of Bahrain are able to overcome any crisis and difficulty, being united with its leadership," he said, describing Bahraini society as a model of tolerance and peaceful co-existence, which rejected all forms of violence and sectarian ideas. - TradeArabia News Service
