A total of of 73,000 out of 172,263 Bahraini government and private sector employees and pensioners have benefited from the recent pay rise, according to our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej's estimates.

This represents 42.37 per cent of the total Bahraini labour force.

The number of Bahraini civil and military pensioners from the government and private sectors has reached 31,000, while the number of civil service employees stands at 42,000, said Civil Service Bureau president Ahmed Al Zayed.

The total number of Bahraini employees stands at 141,263. Of them, more than 99,000 belong to the private sector, according to statistics published by the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions this week. - TradeArabia News Service
