Saudi foundation makes $193,600 donation

Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation has made a donation of SR726,000 ($193,600) to Mawadah Foundation to help support 500 female law graduates practice in law firms for defending the rights of divorced women.

The donation supports a training programme that includes a set of training modules in various specialised areas of law, legal and related fields, intended for graduates of law schools and law.

The goals of the programme include contributing to raising the efficiency of justice in marital and family issues, and rehabilitation of a group of women cadres specialised to plead before the courts and legal counseling and legal matters of personal status, and disseminate human rights culture in family issues.

The project in partnership with Mawadah Foundation was established in 2009, and is headed by Princess Sarah Bint Mosaed Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The foundation aims to reduce divorce rates in the Saudi Arabian society by raising public awareness of the importance of family for the stability of society, to help protect families from breakups and marriage failure, and to provide support for those who are going through a divorce or are divorced.

It also supports research and studies on the topic of divorce in order to provide better solutions in this area.

Alwaleed Foundation’s Women Empowerment Initiative will oversee implementation of executive manager of local projects, Nora Al-Malki, aims to support the greatest number of institutions that are active in raising awareness of women's legal rights.

The initiative supports vocational training programmes for women who aspire for career opportunities across various fields, as well as help those with limited income to learn how to design artifacts.

It includes various groups of women - post-graduates, no primary education, and no university education. – TradeArabia News Service
