GCC union move imperative says Bahrain PM

Manama, May 29, 2012

A GCC union was imperative as attempts to sow sectarian chaos are rife, said Bahrain’s HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa in his remarks when he received a Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation.

The delegation was headed by MP Mohammed bin Jassim Al Saqer, chairman of the foreign affairs committee of the Kuwaiti National Assembly and chairman of the Friendship Committee with the GCC parliamentary councils.

The Premier called for unity of word, joint action, active co-operation and the co-ordination of stances on economic, security and at political levels between GCC countries. He also called on the constitutional institutions to achieve these aims, for they are considered steps to enhance a Gulf union.

HRH the Premier also reinforced the role of Bahraini and Kuwaiti parliamentary relations in promoting co-operation between Bahrain and Kuwait, and warned that attempts are still continuing to create chaos, instability and inciting people to split on sectarian basis.

"Unity, cohesion and work in the framework of collectiveness form the best way to address these attempts. Therefore, there is an urgent need to have a union through the present co-operation between the GCC countries," he said. – TradeArabia News Service
