Riyadh recorded the most number of corruption cases in Saudi Arabia at 25 per cent while Jouf had the least, according to a report.

Riyadh was followed by Makkah, Asir, the Eastern Province, Jazan, Madinah, Qassim, Najran, Baha, Hail, Tabuk, the Northern Border and Jouf, said the Arab News quoting a report released recently by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (Nazaha).

The most reported corruption cases involved mismanagement at 48 per cent, followed by misuse of public money (17.6 per cent), forgery (14.7 per cent), abuse of power, embezzlement of public funds, nepotism, and favoritism (4.4 per cent each), and bribery and non-compliance with official working hours (2.9 per cent each), it said.

Stalled government projects comprised 50 per cent of all reports. Other reports included poor implementation of services, unsatisfactory health services, shoddy road services, inadequate water services, and irregular electricity and sanitation services, said the report.

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs registered the highest corruption cases at 37.5 percent, it added.
