Bahrain approves tax information draft law

Manama, March 24, 2014

A draft law on the exchange and protection of tax information was approved by the Cabinet yesterday.

It also approved Bahrain's accession to International Maritime Organisation conventions relating to safety at sea and search and rescue missions, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The Cabinet approved the ratification of a convention on the avoidance of double taxation between Bahrain and Hungary.

All three have now been referred to the National Assembly.

Meanwhile, a review will be conducted on seven higher academic programmes, seven vocational training institutions, nine private schools and 23 public schools.

It was approved by the Cabinet, which also gave initial approval to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Quality Assurance Authority for Education and Training and the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority.

A delay in parliament receiving a draft media and communications law approved by the Cabinet six weeks ago is being investigated. - TradeArabia News Service
