Mall encourages shoe donations

Manama, June 12, 2012

Bahrain’s modern shopping destination located at the Bahrain World Trade Centre, Moda Mall, has announced that shoppers and visitors will have the unique opportunity to donate new and/or gently used shoes for charity as part of the vintage show exhibition ‘A Shoe Story’.

The initiative is part of Moda Mall’s strategy which aims to encourage shoppers to donate for a noble cause, a statement from a mall official said.

During the entire period of the exhibition, shoppers and visitors can drop-off shoes of any size for children, men and women into a special donation box which is placed in the central court of the mall.

Donated shoes will be collected and presented to Al Noor Charity Welfare, which is headed by Shaikha Lamya Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa.

The exclusive exhibition showcases examples of more than 80 pairs of footwear spanning the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It represents an ideal opportunity for shoe lovers to glimpse footwear worn by Lauren Becall, one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World, Ginger Rogers, Hollywood's highest paid star of 1942 and Imelda Marcos, world-renowned for her extensive shoe collection, in addition to other fascinating shoe pieces.

The exhibition will run until June 16. - TradeArabia News Service
