Tamkeen unveils new-look youth magazine

Bahrain labour fund Tamkeen has introduced its new-look “Discover Life After School” magazine, which aims to increase youth awareness of employment and entrepreneurial opportunitiesin different economic sectors.

The quarterly magazine, which was first introduced in 2011, is part of Tamkeen’s “Discover Life @ Work” Career Market Awareness Project targeting Bahrainis aged between 15 – 20 years old,with 70,000 copies distributed free-of-charge to secondary schools and universities across Bahrain.

This comes in line with its objective of enhancing work-readiness and corporate culture amongst Bahrainis, said a statement from Tamkeen.

The magazine has a youth-friendly style and language to bring clarity and understanding on topics of relevance to Bahrainis who are on the verge of entering the workforce.

Each issue focuses on a key sector which has been identified based on skills gaps studies conducted by Tamkeen. In addition, each issue includes enhanced content and insightful regular features that help students on their journey of self-discovery, such as work ethics, education and training, mental and physical health, interpersonal skills, and interesting case studies that complement the main focus of the issue.

In the latest edition of the magazine, young Bahrainis, job market entrants, and parents can find out about opportunities in the health sector, volunteering and social responsibility. The issue is also available for download on Tamkeen’s website (www.tamkeen.bh/discoverlife).

As per its 2013 Operational Plan, Tamkeen currently has 16 initiatives under its work-readiness and corporate cultureobjective targeting over 37,000 beneficiaries, said the statement.

Nearly 65,000 Bahraini enterprises have benefited have benefited from Tamkeen’s programmes to date. Over 100,000 beneficiaries are set to benefit overall, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
