Top R&B singer to perform at Bahrain F1

Manama, April 21, 2013

Global R&B superstar Ne-Yo will perform live in Bahrain tonight (April 21), marking the end of this year's Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, said a report.

The R&B singer yesterday tweeted "Bahrain, I am on my way" as the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) gears up to close the curtain on a highly-successful 2013 race, according to a report in the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

"This special live performance from 6pm onwards will be free to attend for all race day ticket holders," said a BIC spokesman.

With hits like Closer, Because of You and One in a Million, Ne-Yo is renowned as a platinum-selling artist with dazzling dance moves who has thrilled audiences worldwide. In addition to his own releases, Ne-Yo has written huge hits for Rihanna and BeyoncŽ Knowles as well as providing songs for a large number of artists.

"Performing at the Grand Prix concert will be just as exciting as the race itself as I'm very excited about bringing my concert show to Bahrain for the first time," said the 33-year-old singer, writer, producer and Hollywood star.

Hundreds of people continued to throng the BIC's vending area on the second day of the Grand Prix weekend.

Though attendance was low until the afternoon when only a few hundred people turned up, the entire area presented a fair-like look early in the evening with hundreds of families and youngsters among those attending.

"This is a great atmosphere and I love it here," said Scott Turnbull, who came from the UK just for the race. "This is a fantastic circuit and I am enjoying myself," said the university student from Wales.

"I came to visit friends and be at the F1 at the same time."

Another visitor, Arun Kumar from India but who stays in Oman, said he has been pleasantly surprised "such an event takes place in my neighbourhood."

"I had heard so much so this year I decided to visit. And I must say this is fantastic. This is truly a world class event and the atmosphere is great."

World-class entertainers also performed at the BIC for the second day, enthralling visitors.

The Calpulli Mexican Dance Group, consisting of 20 highly trained dancers performing electrifying traditional dances from Mexico, including ancient Aztec numbers, were again the star attraction, as also were the Bhangra Empire performers from San Francisco.

Angelo and the Crazy Feet, a group of 12 dancers, performed a variety of tap dances, from ABBA to Samba, Can Can to Tchaikovsky. They have appeared on more than 70 television shows.

The Mugenko Taiko Drummers from Japan enthralled audiences with ancient Japanese form of percussion using large drums while the Chinese Lion Dance moved to the rhythm of beating drums, cymbals and gongs.

The Kenyan Black Angels brought the audience to its feet by combining music, dance and circus acrobatics with popular dance moves set to traditional Kenyan music. Their incredible displays of strength, balance and speed received loud applause. – TradeArabia News Service
