Oman Air features art works on flights

Muscat, December 24, 2013

Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate, is sponsoring a major international exhibition featuring the work of 43 Omani artists displayed on seven key routes within the airline’s network of 43 destinations.

Organised by the Oman Society of Fine Arts, the recent launch of 43 Exhibitions in Air saw all 43 artists gather at Oman Air headquarters in Muscat, before travelling on to the city’s Al Alam Palace for a VIP reception which marked the official launch of the creative initiative.

43 Exhibitions in Air has been hailed as the greatest event ever organised by The Omani Society for Fine Art, which is this year celebrating the 20th Anniversary of its inauguration under the guidance and patronage of Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

Mohammed Al Shikely, Oman Air’s general manager Marketing, said: “We are pleased and proud to be sponsoring this major international art initiative, which celebrates the reign of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos by displaying outstanding Omani art aboard our flights and showcasing the richness and variety of Oman’s cultural heritage, and the beauty and colour of the Sultanate’s landscapes and wildlife.”

43 Exhibitions in Air's activities will run for a year and will capitalise on growing international interest in Omani art, raise awareness of Omani artists and the expanding contemporary fine art movement in the Sultanate, and celebrate the achievements of the Oman Society for Fine Art.

“We would like to thank the Omani Society of Fine Arts for this opportunity to share in such a major initiative and to associate the Oman Air brand with such outstanding examples of Omani cultural excellence,” Al Shikely added.
