Batelco provides 4G services at F1 testing

Manama, February 27, 2014

Batelco, Bahrain’s leading telecom operator, said its superfast 4G network is enabling the delivery of action images from F1 testing as it happens at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) this weekend.

All eleven F1 teams will be at the venue over the next four days for the testing prior to the opening race of the season in Melbourne on March 16.

Batelco has provided 4G LTE mifi devices to Sutton Images, a leading Formula One photography agency, to enable them to take action shots and immediately share them with their media contacts, with a simple touch of a button, said a statement.

Ahmed Al Janahi, general manager, media relations, said that Batelco was delighted to provide 4G mifi devices to Sutton Images and shine the spotlight on Bahrain International Circuit.

“These portable mobile wireless internet devices are pushing the boundaries when it comes to distributing action photos instantly worldwide. If something major happens at 3pm, the photo is in the hands of the leading news providers within minutes,” said Al Janahi.

Mark Sutton, founding partner of Sutton images, said: “There is no need to leave the track sidelines and go to the Media Centre to upload and email photos, with such cutting edge technology at one’s finger tips. A simple touch of a button and the selected shot is available for publishing by TV news channels and media houses the world over.”

The images shared by Sutton Images from the BIC can be viewed on Bahrain’s local information website, YallaBahrain, which aims to promote local events and keep residents in the kingdom updated with news about future happenings and action from events as they happen. - TradeArabia News Service
