Arab Idol auditions set to start in Bahrain

Manama, March 18, 2014

Hundreds of people are expected to attend auditions for Arab Idol, as the famous Arabic talent singing show comes to Bahrain for the first time.

Now in its third season, a host of celebrities are already touring the Middle East in the search for undiscovered stars, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The judging panel, which includes Arab superstars Ragheb Alama, Nancy Ajram and Ahlam, as well as producer Hassan El Shafei, are expected to be in Bahrain to conduct the auditions at the Gulf Hotel on Thursday.

"The crew are arriving today to begin to set up," Bahrain production manager Fadi Tannous told the GDN.

"We're expecting 45 people who make up the crew, apart from the judges and presenters.

"The auditions will take place on Thursday (March 20) morning, starting at 8am."

Auditions are open to anyone between 15 and 30 years of age.

Tannous confirmed they will take place at the Gulf Hotel, and said three halls had been booked for the event.

"We're expecting 500 people at the very least to turn up," he said.

"I can't confirm that the judges will be here for sure, but logically they would have to conduct the auditions.

"We'll have confirmation later in the week.

"The show is currently conducting auditions in Kuwait and will be flying in from there."

The auditions will then move to Dubai on Saturday (March 22).

Hopefuls should arrive at 8am sharp, and have three songs prepared for the audition.

Contestants also need to bring their passport, and if they are between 15 and 18 need to be accompanied by their legal guardian.

Bringing along musical instruments is encouraged, and the dress code is "dress to impress".

Family and friends are welcome to join in order to support the contestants. - TradeArabia News Service
