Viva Bahrain in key music tie-up

Manama, July 3, 2014

Viva Bahrain, a leading telecom services operator in the kingdom, has teamed up with Anghami, one of the region's largest music applications.

Anghami, an app that provides a seamless experience to listen to unlimited music on-the-go on your mobile, features licensed content from Arabic labels such as Rotana, Platinum Records, Mazzika, Melody and international labels such as Universal, Sony, EMI and Warner.

Viva said the partnership, which is the first in Bahrain, enables its customers to upgrade to Anghami+ version for unlimited music downloads, offline access and unlimited play time.

The collaboration will streamline the process for Viva customer upgrading to Anghami+ directly through their mobile bills and credit balance instead of using traditional online payment methods.

Around five million users are believed to have downloaded the app. Viva is charging BD0.5 per week for the service with one month free trial.

The company also announced a key tieup with Microsoft to launch its 'Viva Store' on the Microsoft Marketplace.

With this move, Viva customers using Microsoft Windows' smartphones will be able to access 'Viva Store' via the Windows Phone Store to download Viva's selected apps and games, including Viva BH self-care app.

"We are happy to see Viva keeping up with international trends and joining thousands of global brands in the Windows marketplace," Microsoft Bahrain and Oman regional country manager Tareq Hijazi said.

He reiterated Microsoft's commitment to providing the increasing number of Windows Phone users the latest applications and services by signing deals with partners from different sectors of the industry locally, regionally and globally.

"Viva is the first operator in Bahrain to have its own private store within the Windows Phone Store," Viva Bahrain chief commercial officer Andrew Hanna said.

"We have been witnessing a promising increase in demand for the Windows Phone and we are pleased to partner with Microsoft," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
