RAK, Protechnology in magazine tieup

Ras Al Khaimah, June 5, 2008

The Ras Al Khaimah eGovernment Authority (EGA) has inked a deal with Protechnology, a leading provider of broadcast, communication, security and storage solutions,  to launch a magazine, to be accessible through RAK Government’s website.

The journal, which will be available in English and Arabic on www.rak.ae. is part of an initiative to raise public awareness regarding eServices and to facilitate the complete shift towards digital governance in the emirate.

The project follows Protechnology’s prior success and partnership with Dubai eGovernment and their magazine - ‘e for all’.

Dr Hashem Al-Refaei, director general, EGA and IT Advisor, Government of Ras Al Khaimah, said, “The launch of the magazine was in line with the vision of Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qassimi, RAK crown prince and deputy ruler, to educate the public regarding the benefits of eGovernment.

This initiative is designed to encourage residents of the emirate to shift from the traditional ways of dealing with government departments to modern methods through the use of eServices, thereby setting the stage for a new era of good governance and principles of modernity across the emirate.

"We are following the direction taken by Dubai as the leading eGovernment in the Arab World, and we hope to match their achievements in forming a comprehensive federal portal in the near future,” Al Refaei said.

Jamal H. Maraqa, managing director of Protechnology said, "this partnership is in line with our aims to play an effective role in the development process, which is witnessed in the emirate and the UAE in general."

"Protechnology has achieved great success for more than four years in the issuance of the exclusive magazine of Dubai eGovernment (e for all), and we are fully equipped today to provide all the necessary technical support for RAK eGovernment."

This specialised and goal-oriented periodical, which will exemplify the developments achieved by Ras Al Khaimah in the process of online transformation, will provide an ideal platform to promote ‘Good Governance’, where eGovernment is regarded as one of its core elements, he said.

“Good Governance is an important factor towards ensuring continuous human progress, as it provides individual and corporate customers with the required eServices at their convenience, thereby eliminating the burden of time-consuming physical transactions with various government departments, Maraqa added.-TradeArabia News Service
