GM plans biggest roof-top solar project
London, July 8, 2008
General Motors (GM) is planning to build the world's largest rooftop solar power station, according to a report.
The Financial Times report said the power station at its factory in Zaragoza, Spain, will have 183,000 sq m of solar panels. The 50 million euro ($78.5 million) project will supply a quarter of the factory's power at peak times, the paper said.
The carmaker is working with Veolia Environnement of France and Clairvoyant Energy of the US on the project.
