Dubai book fair to be showcased at Frankfurt

Dubai, October 6, 2009

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) has announced that it will leverage its participation in the forthcoming Frankfurt Book Fair, the world’s largest event for books, to promote the February 2010 Dubai International Children’s Book Fair.

The five-day Frankfurt Book Fair 2009, to be held from October 14 to18, is expected to attract 7,000 exhibitors from more than 100 countries. The previous edition of the event welcomed over 286,000 visitors.

During the exhibition, the foundation delegates will seek to attract the world’s leading children’s book publishers to the inaugural edition of Dubai International Children’s Book Fair in February 2010, which is being held with the aim of developing  the publishing industry in the Arab world and promoting reading among Arab children.

“The Frankfurt Book Fair provides an important opportunity to network with the maximum number of publishers and other professionals involved in children's literature, in the context of Dubai International Children's Book Fair,' stated Jamal Al Shehhi, CEO, Dubai International Children’s Book Fair.

The MBRF implements a variety of initiatives involving children’s literature. Participation in the Frankfurt Book Fair is part of the foundation’s strategy to engage with global stakeholders in children’s literature and create awareness about the Dubai International Children’s Book Fair.

Earlier this year, the MBRF participated in several leading international book fairs, including the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in Italy and the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair. The outreach activities are also part of a strategic move to bring about greater collaboration and build partnerships with organisations linked to children’s literature globally.-TradeArabia News Service
