Bahrain to build 2 'hybrid' power plants

Bahrain is set to build two new 'hybrid' power plants for solar and wind energy at a cost of around $8 million, a report said.

A location for the renewable energy plants is likely to be finalised soon, Electricity and Water Authority distribution and customer services deputy chief executive Adnan Fakhroo said yesterday.

Each of the solar and wind plants will produce five megawatts of energy, he added.

Fakhroo was speaking during the opening of the Gulf Water and Power Forum at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.-TradeArabia News Service
