Emaar forays into restaurant management

Dubai, May 10, 2010

Emaar Hospitality Group, which manages a number of food and beverage venues across its hotel and leisure portfolio, has ventured into independent restaurant management with the launch of Downtown Deli.

Downtown Deli, located on the lower ground floor of The Dubai Mall, serves a variety of appetizers, main courses, snacks, desserts and refreshments.

The restaurant, which can seat up to 90 people, caters to health conscious individuals and vegetarian customers, said an Emaar statement.

The Deli is easily accessible from the Waterfront Promenade and since its opening earlier this year has received strong customer response, it added.

Also offering al fresco dining, the deli provides spectacular views of The Dubai Fountain, the world’s tallest performing fountain which has added to its popularity.

'It serves a selection of fresh sandwiches, wraps and salads all prepared daily, on site. A salad cart is also available giving customers the option of creating their own salads.'

In line with the growing demand for organic food and beverages in Dubai, Orbis is supplying a range of Organic Teas and Coffees to the Downtown Deli. To support the local organic farmers in Malawi, Downtown Deli will donate 10 per cent of the proceeds from tea and coffee sales to the farmers.

Marc Dardenne, chief executive officer, Emaar Hospitality Group and Emaar Hotels & Resorts said: “The launch of Downtown Deli is a key step in our ongoing expansion strategy. The outlet provides the perfect place for mall visitors to enjoy a healthy snack or meal and enjoy the breathtaking views of Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Fountain.

He added: “We have proven our track record in managing first-class food and beverage venues with around 50 restaurants within our five star properties. We are now looking forward to managing independent restaurants in Dubai that will offer the same quality and standards of service to our customers as in our hotels.”

The ambience of the Deli is laid back yet lively and is further complemented by its selection of upbeat background music.

Appealing to customers who just want to kick back and relax after a day’s shopping, the décor is refreshing yet enticing. Opening hours are from 10am to 10pm on weekdays and until 12pm on weekends and holidays.

Two other restaurants to be launched by Emaar Hospitality Group in the near future include Saha Cafe, serving fresh Arabic mezze and shisha; and Madeline, a French Café Bistro.

Emaar Hospitality Group brings a wealth of expertise in operating a range of different restaurants across its properties in Dubai. The Group launched its premier five star hotel brand The Address Hotels + Resorts in 2008.

It also manages a diversified portfolio of hospitality assets such as hotels, serviced residences, golf resorts, marinas, the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club, Hayya! Health clubs and Dubai Marina Yacht Club.-TradeArabia News Service
