Egypt buys 66,500 T rice from local market

Egypt's General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) said it had bought 66,500 tonnes of rice from the local market through a tender.

Nomani Nomani, vice chairman of GASC, said in a statement the price range was 2,750-2,990 Egyptian pounds ($481.3-523.3) per tonne.

The quantity was due to be supplied to consumers under the subsidy programme between November 10 to 30.

In its latest tender on October 9, GASC bought 79,450 tonnes of rice from the domestic market at prices between 2,347 and 2,480 pounds per tonne.-Reuters
