Dubai wood event closes with $27m sales

Dubai, April 12, 2011

The Dubai International Wood & Wood Machinery Show, a leading event for wood trade and investment, ended its three-day run at the Dubai Airport Expo with sales amounting to over Dh100 million ($27.22 million).

A total of 200 companies coming from 40 different countries with around 30 machinery companies showcased the latest technology in the world of wood working machinery at the event which saw more than 5,000 visitors.

“We are very overwhelmed with the response we have received for this year’s Dubai WoodShow, which is our largest edition ever. Participants and visitors alike have all come back to us with positive reviews on the event, commending us for the carefully prepared program of activities that we implemented this year,” said Dawood Al Shezawi, CEO, Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions, organisers of the event.

“The latest Dubai WoodShow was able to live up to its reputation of being a strategic platform for the wood and wood machinery industry. The event proved to be a prime venue for buyers and sellers to meet and has resulted in over Dh100 million in sales. Aside from this figure, participants have reported more deals being closed even after the show has ended," he added.

The overwhelming response that they have received for Dubai WoodShow sets the background for the Cairo WoodShow and the Abu Dhabi WoodShow, he added.

The Abu Dhabi WoodShow will be held from October 18 to October 20 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, while the Cairo WoodShow will be held from September 15 to September 18 at the Cairo International Conference Centre.

Both exhibitions will showcase the products and services of over 100 companies from the entire wood & forestry spectrum.

“The Abu Dhabi WoodShow and Cairo WoodShow aim to capitalize on the growing number of construction and development projects,” Al Shezawi said.

“Both Abu Dhabi and Cairo are currently demonstrating robust economic activity as a result of these new projects. The two events promise to offer more products, services and networking activities that are aimed at strengthening the Middle East region’s wood industry,” he concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
