Asiacell, the first mobile telecommunications company in Iraq, has won the best performance award for the second consecutive quarter at a recent event in Iraq.

Goran Mahmood, wholesale and roaming manager, Asiacell received the award at a forum organised by Qatar telecom.

Aircell won recognition for its track record as the first mobile telecom company in Iraq to offer land, ocean and air GSM roaming coverage.

This is the first service of its kind in Iraq and the on aircraft roaming service enables postpaid subscribers to enjoy GSM roaming with full voice, SMS and GPRS services in-flight.

A number of regional and Asian telecom operators including Nawras, Wataniya, Tunisiana, Qtel, Starhub and Indosat took part in the award ceremony.- TradeArabia News Service
