Abu Dhabi awards see big response online

Abu Dhabi, September 15, 2011

Online nominations to Abu Dhabi Awards for contribution to community have grown 70 per cent this year as against the 2009 campaign, said organising committee officials.

The Abu Dhabi Awards Organising Committee expects this number to increase further in the last phase of the nomination campaign.

With the nomination period entering its final weeks, citizens and residents from across the community are encouraged to submit their nomination to recognise someone’s contribution to the community.

Nominations close at the end of this month.

“The Abu Dhabi Awards Organising Committee has been overwhelmed by the positive response and understanding of the public to this year’s campaign,” said a committee member.

“As we enter into the last two weeks of the nomination period, we again call upon people to take the opportunity to recognise the selfless acts of goodness being carried out in our community. One nomination is all it takes for an individual to be recognised,” the official added.

The 2009 award recipient Isabelle Le Bon Poonoosamy said: “Community work is not about how much money you can donate. It’s about how much time and effort you can put in to spread goodness around you and about how many people you can inspire. So if you know someone who is doing good deeds for the community, nominate them now!”

The organising committee has arranged 100 nomination drop boxes and stands to accept nominations located across the Emirate. A roving nomination bus is touring locations across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Gharbia to ensure that as many people as possible can find out about the Awards, in addition to the abudhabiawards.ae.

The Abu Dhabi Awards offers an opportunity to recognise those citizens and residents who have selflessly given their time to make a tangible difference to the community of Abu Dhabi.

The Abu Dhabi Awards are presented to citizens, residents and non-residents of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi regardless of their age and nationality.

The 2011 recipients will be announced at the awards ceremony in December. – TradeArabia News Service
