BigTime Arabia appoints GM

Dubai, October 31, 2011

Big Time Arabia, a leading mobile value added services (MVAS) business based in Dubai, has appointed Dr Roland Beckmann-Kunz as its new general manager.

BigTime Arabia was formed earlier this month as a joint venture between Big Time Entertainment and global conglomerate the Libra Group.

It is a specialist provider of SMS-based gaming and mobile marketing campaigns for mobile telecoms operators and media groups, and will focus on the MVAS sector in the Mena, Asia and the Americas.

Beckmann-Kunz's appointment is with immediate effect and he will work directly with the C-level suite of Big Time Entertainment Group, said a company statement.

Dr Beckmann-Kunz brings 18 years of marketing and strategy experience to the role, including 12 years in leading positions in telecoms and media companies.

Past roles have included Group Head of Content for Etisalat Group, and VP of Content & Digital Commerce for Vodafone Germany. He has also had senior jobs with Deutsche Telekom and AOL Bertelsmann.

Most recently, Dr Beckmann-Kunz was founder and CEO of Incipio Performance Design Group, which focuses on digital business development, strategy and sales for leading media and telecoms clients in the Middle East.

He will be responsible for BigTime Arabia's business in Mena, working closely with the rest of the management team to capitalise on the significant uptake in mobile broadband and wireless technology in these regions.

This will include helping to attract and retain customers and enhancing their revenue streams through the deployment of mobile marketing campaigns and related activities.

Dimitris Papazisis, CEO of BigTime, said, “I very much look forward to working with Dr Beckmann-Kunz. He has a wealth of experience that will help achieve our ultimate goal of becoming the leading player in Mobile Value Added Services in the region.”

On the new role, Dr Beckmann-Kunz said: “We will be leveraging BigTime's international expertise to ensure we grow rapidly in the Mena region which is a genuine emerging market for the MVAS sector.”-TradeArabia News Service
