EADS in pan-Arab TV show tieup

Paris, November 29, 2011

EADS, a leader in aerospace, defence and related services, has partnered with Stars of Science, a pan-Arab reality TV programme initiated by The Qatar Foundation to find the next generation of young Arab innovators.

During a recent visit to Doha, EADS chief executive officer Louis Gallois met the participants of 'Stars of Science' and offered them four long-term internship awards for a training programme within any EADS corporate Research & Technology laboratory.

Since its creation in 2000, the EADS Group with its four divisions has already created over 15,000 new high-tech jobs and demonstrated a leading role in aerospace and defence innovation with over 9,000 patents.

Dr Jean Botti, EADS’ chief technical officer, said: "We are proud to support this unique programme in the Arab world. Stars of Science supports innovation, an area which EADS prioritizes through its research and technology activities."

"Our support of this programme is a symbol of EADS´ commitment to Qatar and to find and source the best innovative minds from around the world," he noted.

The selection of the four interns was carried out by EADS management, dependent upon the relevancy of respective projects for the group or the individual potential of the participants.

The winners will be announced during the final programme on December 1.

This selection is independent of the official ranking in the competition for which Mohammed Salem Al-Kuwari, the general manager of the EADS Competence Centre in Qatar (CCQ), is a member of the jury. The CCQ is located in the Qatar Science and Technology Park.

Bertrand Deyzac, managing director of EADS Qatar, said, "The Stars of Science programme is a unique event that allows young people to demonstrate their talents."

"We are always seeking to tie up with visionary partners such as The Qatar Foundation which, like EADS, are committed to encouraging the younger generation to build a better future through science and innovation," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
