Dubai, January 6, 2013

The British Safety Council will promote new occupational health and safety training courses for Middle East companies at the upcoming Intersec Dubai safety and security exhibition.

The 15th edition of Intersec will run from January 15 to 17 at Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The new courses include an e-learning version of the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (IGC). This highly respected training course and qualification provides managers and supervisors in all industry sectors and countries with a broad understanding of how to manage practical health and safety issues.

It focuses on international health and safety legislation and standards, making it suitable for workers in the Middle East, and delegates can study for the course via the internet at a time that suits them and their employer.

Other new British Safety Council health, safety and environmental training courses and qualifications suitable for companies and individuals in the Middle East include:

•    The NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety, a classroom-based training course and qualification for those with health and safety responsibilities in the global oil and gas industry

•    An e-learning version of the popular IOSH Managing Safely course, which equips managers and supervisors in all industry sectors and countries with the knowledge to successfully manage health and safety issues, via online study

•    The IEMA Associate Certificate in Environmental Management, a classroom-based training programme that teaches managers and supervisors in all sectors and countries how to improve their organisation’s environmental management and sustainability.

Alex Botha, the British Safety Council’s chief executive, said: “The British Safety Council has a long history of providing health, safety and environmental services and support to Middle East companies, including leading businesses in the oil and gas, petrochemical, construction and utilities sectors. Our member organisations in the region include RasGas, Dubai Electricity and Water Company, GASCO and Drydocks World.”

“Achieving high standards of health, safety and environmental performance not only saves lives and prevents environmental harm, it reaps business benefits in terms of lower absence, increased productivity and enhanced customer and investor reputation.

“Our director of commercial affairs, Roni Kotecha, and international business manager Stephen Rowe, will be available at Intersec to explain how our extensive portfolio of training, qualifications, audits, awards and membership services can help Middle East companies in all industries to achieve excellence in the control of health, safety and environmental risks,” Botha added. – TradeArabia News Service
