Alwaleed Foundation lights up 3 Saudi villages

Manama, March 5, 2014

Saudi Arabia-based Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation has donated electric generators for three villages in the Asir region.

As part of the ‘Lighting up Lives’ project, the foundation provided generators to 50 houses in the Al-Walema Town, 28 houses in the Al-Masag Town and 30 houses for the Rabwa Alwosheja Town.

The project has reached out to more than 400 villages in Saudi Arabia’s most remote locations, benefiting over 42,000 households and more than 210,000 people, said a statement.

These villages are not covered by the power grid, but the programme is listed to be connected with the grid during the life time of the generators, it said.

The power generators installed have a 10-year life span, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
