Chrysler Mideast sales up 31pc

Chrysler International sales rose 31 per cent in the Middle East during the first half of 2008 compared to the same period last year, according to the company.

Saudi Arabia sales topped the list in the region after which came UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain.

Yemen sales grew 124 per cent in the first six months of the year.

The automaker reported good sales in the Levant countries also with Lebanon posting 51 per cent growth.

Vehicles which increased the sales figures included the Grand Cherokee, the Wrangler, the new Cherokee launched earlier this year, the Nitro and the Durango, said the company.
