Al-Futtaim, Explorer lookout for travelling reporter

Dubai, January 19, 2012

Al-Futtaim Motors Toyota recently teamed up with UAE Explorer to search for a travelling reporter who will make the Ultimate UAE Explorer for 2012.

The partnership consists of offering the 2012 FJ Cruiser to the winner of the contest for a period of 12 months, a statement from the company said.

“The car will be put to its ultimate test by the winner to travel within the UAE, exploring a plethora of adventure tours, while staying at stylish hotels, enjoying the best meals across the emirates’ best restaurants, and indulging in the most luxurious spa treatments,” said Julian Redman, senior marketing manager, Al-Futtaim Motors Toyota.

Al-Futtaim will also give away 10 driving experiences vouchers to experience the toughest sand terrains while on a desert safari with Toyota’s expert team of drivers.

“The retro styled FJ reflects an attitude of adventure, sportiness and fun. As soon as it was launched in the UAE in 2007, the car gained great popularity among off-roaders and the general young Toyota enthusiasts,” Redman said.

“The FJ Cruiser is descended from a long line of Toyota off-road vehicles, including the leading and world-renowned Toyota Land Cruiser,” he said.

It has a muscular 4 litre, dual VVTi engine, 270 HP, V6 engine coupled with an advanced five-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission and differential lock, which delivers a powerful and responsive drive off-road, and smooth acceleration on-road.

The FJ Cruiser’s extremely strong, frame-based platform and lightweight body are perfectly designed for off-road driving, outdoor leisure activities and urban driving.

“It has excellent safety features which make it the ultimate fun yet safe car to take on the most challenging terrains,” Redman said.

The FJ Cruiser is equipped with vehicle stability control, traction control (on the SE), and anti-lock brakes with EBD and brake assist. It has dual airbags and an energy absorbing structure in the roof, combined with a tough body that meets the most stringent safety requirements.

The FJ’s interior is flexible and functional, designed to meet most kinds of leisure and off-road driving needs. The interior ensures space for four passengers. The seat material is water-repellent and the interior materials ensure that dirt, dust and water can be easily cleaned.

“We are confident the FJ Cruiser will double the winner’s excitement during long driving hours. With roof lining speakers not found in any conventional sound system, the winner will be cruising with his own music club on board, enjoying an exceptional shower of sound flowing from the roof,” Redman concluded.

Applicants who wish to enter the search must be over 21 years of age and can do so by applying through the website. Interested candidates should hold a valid UAE residents’ visa. - TradeArabia News Service
