Online insurance for causeway vehicles

Manama, August 15, 2012

Bahrain eGovernment Authority (eGA) has launched an online service which allows travelers, departing to Saudi Arabia or arriving in Bahrain, to obtain issued insurance policies for their vehicles before entering the causeway.

The service ‘Issuance of Insurance Policies for King Fahad Causeway’, launched in cooperation with the United Insurance Company (UIC), also enables them to pay insurance fees online without having to queue in front of insurance cabinets, and move directly to the next cabinet.

Available at the eGovernment portal (bahrain.bh), the service was met with an incredible number of visits which exceeded 6,000; up to now (August 15). The already-popular service is within the framework of enhancing public and private sector partnership.

“With the arrival of Eid in few more days, the incoming and outgoing journeys through King Fahad Causeway are growing, especially that citizens and expatriates travel to perform Umrah, while others travel for shopping, or to pay family visits to relatives in Bahrain and other GCC countries,” said United Insurance Company general manager Ahmed Al-Ammadi.

“In coordination with the eGovernment Authority, we have inaugurated such a service, which is user-friendly and available 24/7, at the portal.”

Interested travelers can visit the portal, select the service entitled ‘Issuance of Insurance policies for

King Fahad Causeway’ from the service menu, then click on ‘Start Service’.
As for owners of Bahraini-licensed private cars, they are required to submit their personal details and information of their vehicles.

In the case of companies and organisations, users are required to insert the CR number if the vehicle is owned by the company; a confirmation of insurance policy issuance will then be given by sending the insurance policy and its reference number by email along with an SMS notifying the user of process completion.

The same procedures are followed with non-Bahraini vehicles entering Bahrain, knowing that the minimum number of days for issuing insurance to such vehicles is three days. Similarly, confirmation will be made by sending the policy and its number by email, as a report of completed process. – TradeArabia News Service
