Oman invites bids for Al Noor oilfield work

Muscat, January 25, 2010

State-run Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has invited bids for the engineering and procurement contract (EPC) to expand its Al Noor oilfield in the south of the country, its website said on Monday.

Contractors will supply and install an additional new gas dehydration train along with gas injection compression facilities and associated injector wells, associated piping and utilities at the existing Al Noor production station, the website said.

The bids for the project will close on February 9.

Al Noor is one of PDO's biggest oilfields and started production in 2000.

PDO is Oman's largest oil producer and an affiliate of Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L). It pumped 633,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil in 2008.

Oman has spent heavily on new technology to enhance oil output from its old, depleted fields. It reached its target in 2009 to produce 807,000 bpd, up from 757,000 in 2008. - Reuters
