Saudi 'will work for stable oil markets'

Riyadh, November 24, 2010

Saudi Arabia will continue to seek oil market stability, state news media reported on Wednesday, citing a second day of talks the kingdom's oil minister held with foreign ambassadors.

Ali Al-Naimi discussed separately with ambassadors of Finland, Russia and South Korea oil market conditions and "stressed the kingdom's need for oil markets' stability and to promote cooperation between oil producers and consumers," SPA reported.

This is Al-Naimi's second round of comments stressing Saudi oil policy would remain on a steady course since King Abdullah, who is 86 or 87, left for New York on Monday for medical treatment.

Al-Naimi held similar talks on Tuesday with ambassadors of Japan, the United Kingdom and Italy. - Reuters
