Bahrain summit to discuss energy issues

More than 500 engineers and energy specialists from across the Middle East region, Europe, Asia, and the US are expected to take part in the upcoming Energy Management Conference and Exhibition in Bahrain.
The key event, which aims to discuss renewable energy and alternative fuels, will be held from December 9 to 11 under the patronage of Finance Minister and Minister in Charge of Oil and Gas Affairs Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
It is being organised by the Bahrain Society of Engineers in collaboration with National Oil and Gas Authority, Arabian Gulf University and supported by the ministry under the theme Towards Energy Sustainability.
Taking place at the Gulf Hotel's Gulf International Convention Centre, it will feature a series of workshops and an exhibition displaying the latest products and innovations.
"Holding the event in this region reflects the importance of discussing and debating issues on energy management, alternative fuels, renewable energy and other issues," said conference and exhibition chairman and Saudi Aramco chief engineer Ahmad Al Khowaiter.
"One of the most alarming issues in the GCC has been poor energy efficiency that leads to a demand which surpasses the economic and population growth rates."
The expert added the Gulf countries were particularly vulnerable to potential reduction in global oil consumption as a result of carbon emission mitigation policies post 2020.-TradeArabia News Service
